We Are Our People, Pneuma team building in Donegal, September 2024.

Team building plays a vital role at Pneuma Healthcare, not only in fostering a cohesive and collaborative workplace but also in enhancing the overall quality of care we provide as a mental health company. In the field of mental health, the importance of strong, unified teams cannot be overstated. The nature of our work requires empathy, understanding, and clear communication qualities that are cultivated through effective team building.

At Pneuma Healthcare, we believe that a well-functioning team is the backbone of delivering high-quality care. By encouraging teamwork, we create an environment where staff feel supported, valued, and motivated to collaborate. This allows for better sharing of knowledge, insights, and experiences, which directly benefits our clients. At Pneuma, we have regular team bonding and building experiences. Last week, as a team we went to Donegal, a lot of the team went surfing and others went for beautiful walks along Marble Hill beach.

We believe team building plays a significant role in employee well-being. Working in mental health can be emotionally taxing, and a strong support network within the team helps individuals manage stress and avoid burnout. Through team-building activities, we strengthen interpersonal relationships, build trust, and create a culture where staff members feel comfortable sharing their challenges and seeking support.

In a mental health setting, where collaboration and trust are key to providing effective care, fostering a strong team dynamic is essential. At Pneuma Healthcare, we prioritize team building because we know that when our teams work well together, the quality of care improves, and our staff are better equipped to support both each other and the individuals we serve. This is a fundamental part of our commitment to providing exceptional mental health care.

World Mental Health Day, 10th October 2024

World Mental Health Day

On World Mental Health Day, October 10th, Pneuma Healthcare reaffirms its commitment to supporting mental well-being and raising awareness of the importance of accessible mental health care. This year’s theme, "Mental health is a universal human right," highlights the critical need for equitable access to mental health services, which is a core part of our mission.

“At Pneuma we keep humans at the centre of the digital mental health revolution - prioritising staff wellbeing, motivation and development while embracing the opportunities of digital innovation and invention to provide mental health care accessibility for all”.

Mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, and stress, continue to affect millions globally. Despite growing awareness, barriers such as stigma, limited resources, and a lack of education often prevent people from seeking the help they need. Pneuma Healthcare, with partnerships in the UK, N.Ireland and Ireland are dedicated to addressing these challenges by delivering accessible, evidence-based psychological therapies through step two Talking Therapies previously known as IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies), and psychoeducation group therapy sessions, focusing on early intervention for those experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues.

This World Mental Health Day serves as a reminder that mental health should be prioritised at every level, from government policy to corporate initiatives and community support. Pneuma Healthcare advocates for integrated mental health care as part of routine healthcare services, empowering individuals to seek help and support without fear or judgment. By fostering open conversations, improving access to care, and promoting mental health education, we can collectively work towards a future where mental health is a universal human right.

Partnership with mdeducational foundation

Pneuma Healthcare are working in partnership with mdeducational foundation, a charity prioritising student wellbeing by providing fully funded Wellbeing Leads in schools for post-16 years across the UK and Ireland. mdeducational foundation is putting student wellbeing at the forefront of education, providing much needed support for their wellbeing needs through education and beyond.

There are significant challenges facing the education and wellbeing sectors in the UK, with rates of a probable mental disorder in young people aged 17 to 19 years rising to 1 in 4 in 2022 (NHS Digital, 2022). Now more than ever, intervention is needed. By putting student wellbeing at the forefront of education, mdeducational foundation are providing much-needed support for their wellbeing needs through education and beyond.

With a clear lack of research in this area and support for students aged between 16-18, we see further research and education as crucial areas for improvement when it comes to supporting adolescents dealing with wellbeing challenges. Pneuma Healthcare in collaboration with Ulster University and mdeducational foundation are developing research driven mechanisms to shed light on well-being strategies and outcomes for developing robust, dynamic and scientific data capture, interventions and peer reviewed research. This collaborative partnership brings pioneering innovations in well-being to post-16 school settings

Being Part of Our Local Community

Pneuma Healthcare is proud to be a part of our local community, recently sponsoring t-shirts for a local school, Oakgrove integrated primary school, participating in the Hard as Oak kids challenge over the Summer. This event, known for its rigorous outdoor activities and team-building exercises, aligns perfectly with our values at Pneuma Healthcare. We believe that engaging with nature, especially through challenging physical activities, plays a crucial role in supporting mental health.

In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to become disconnected from the natural environment and the simple joys it offers. The Hard as Oak challenge provides an excellent opportunity for students to step away from screens and daily stressors, immersing themselves in the beauty and tranquillity of the outdoors. Being in nature helps reduce anxiety, improve mood, and boost overall well-being. It allows participants to create lasting memories with their peers, fostering a sense of belonging and community.

At Pneuma Healthcare, we understand that mental health is as important as physical health. By sponsoring these t-shirts, we aim to not only support the physical challenge but also encourage the mental resilience that comes from facing obstacles in a supportive, natural environment. We are committed to initiatives that promote mental well-being, and we believe that being in nature  is vital in nurturing a healthier, happier community. We look forward to continuing our support for events that bring our community closer together and closer to nature.

Training on Motivational Interviewing

A massive thank you to Glen Hinds, who delivered a specialised training session on Motivational Interviewing to our dedicated team at Pneuma Healthcare at Ulster University Coleraine campus. Glen, met with our Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners team.

MI is used to address ambivalence in clients dealing with depression, anxiety, and other mental health challenges. It helps clients identify and move toward values-aligned actions that can improve their mental well-being.

Motivational Interviewing is a powerful approach that fosters personal growth and positive change by respecting the client’s autonomy and engaging them in a collaborative process. Its emphasis on empathy, understanding, and self-efficacy makes it a versatile tool that can be adapted to a wide range of contexts. By helping clients explore and resolve their ambivalence about change, MI empowers them to take meaningful steps toward improving their lives.
