National Stress Awareness Day

National Stress Awareness Day, which takes place today, is an initiative organised by the International Stress Management Association (ISMA) to bring attention to psychological stress and provide information about the tools which can be used to combat it. The theme for this year is, ‘Working together to build resilience and reduce stress’.

It is an opportunity to come together to promote shared knowledge and best practice in stress management, in order to support mental health, wellbeing and performance.

Most of us experience stress at some time in our lives. Although workplace stress is particularly common, stress can be caused by a number of factors, such as the challenges of juggling a career with home life and / or childcare, relationship issues, or a combination of things. It’s not always possible to control the things that trigger stress, but there are some steps that we can take to manage our lifestyle and try and keep stress to a minimum. This might mean making sure you take lunch breaks and leave the office on time; getting regular exercise; getting enough sleep, or simply talking to someone and sharing your feelings.

Mental Health UK has a range of useful online resources for managing stress, or you can read our blog to find out how to recognise the signs of burnout.

At Pneuma, the mental health and wellbeing of our staff is our highest priority. Managing stress is different for everyone, so it’s important to find the tools which work for you.
